    Grinding media iron balls (cast or forged) are widely used in mining and cement industries for efficient comminution and grinding. Cast iron balls (e.g., high-chrome cast balls) offer high wear resistance, durability, and cost-effectiveness, making them ideal for applications like gold, copper, and iron ore processing, coal grinding in power plants, and cement and clinker production . Their hardness typically ranges from 45–68 HRC, with low breakage rates (<0.3–1%) and excellent corrosion resistance .
     
    Forged steel balls (e.g., 45#, 50Mn, 60Mn, B2, B3 grades) are also used in ball mills and SAG mills, with hardness levels from 55–65 HRC and impact values >12 J/cm², ensuring optimal grinding efficiency [^6]. Sizes range from 10–150 mm diameter, customizable based on specific needs .
     
    Manufacturing involves precise steps such as material selection, melting/casting (for cast balls) or forging (for forged balls), heat treatment (quenching and tempering), and rigorous quality inspection to ensure hardness, impact resistance, and wear performance .
     
    These grinding media are essential in ball mills, SAG mills, and rod mills, supporting the mining, cement, power generation, and chemical industries worldwide.
